A Subtle Halloween Outfit

Wanting to dress up for Halloween, but still want to look professional? This outfit is my take on a subtle Halloween look, that will still work for everyday.

Happy Halloween! I hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating this weekend/has a wonderful time celebrating today. As you may have noticed, I didn’t get a costume this year. Halloween is really not a big deal here in Sydney. So, I decided to save my pennies for another day.

Our Halloween celebrations this year included getting a couple drinks and tacos with friends this weekend and also stuffing our faces with some yummy treats for Diwali. (Thanks to my husband’s coworkers for those!) We also went to Bronte & Bondi Beach to look at some cool sculptures and watch the surfers. A bit different of a Halloween than years past, but still a lovely weekend in my opinion.

Demon TZ silk scarf

I did, however, wear an orange and black scarf when we went out! Does that count as being a festive Halloween outfit? Haha. (I think this Halloween-themed scarf would be even better, too!)

I was fully prepared to answer (if anyone asked what I was…but they didn’t) that I was channeling my inner Dr. Strange with this outfit too. The coat reminds me of the one he wears a bit..or maybe it’s just because I really want to see the movie..but it didn’t work out this weekend. So, I’ll just sit over here wondering if it’s as amazing as I imagined.

Makemechic sleeveless trench coat

I think this coat was my attempt to satiate my desire to celebrate fall with trench coats and boots, haha. It’s chilly enough that this coat doesn’t make me overheat…but it is currently a bit too warm to wear an actual trench coat. So, sleeveless trench coat to the rescue! Also, this one does come with a belt..I just had it knotted up in the back because I didn’t love the way it looked tied in the front. This coat runs really large, too! I’m usually a medium, but this coat is an extra small…and it fits fine. I can even button it up if I want…However, I do feel like I look like I’m in a straightjacket then. Haha. Maybe that would’ve been ok for Halloween, though? 😉

  1. Love the outfit! And did the coat protect you from the hazards of daily life? 😉

No Halloween celebrations… it’s not that popular over here in the Netherlands. And I did not have the time to find a Halloween themed party. Next year! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Tassia! Haha, well, the day I wore the coat it wasn’t too bad weatherwise…however, if it was especially cold or rainy, I would opt for my coat with sleeves. 😉

  2. I was too tired to celebrate Halloween after all the work I did for Diwali.
So nothing special for Halloween this time. But love your take on it.
The scarf is so pretty and this coat is everything! Really brightens up the day!

  3. Love the outfit! I always love your outfits and your posts. This Halloween was really fun for me. I introduced a few close friends to the feminine me and we went to some accepting clubs. It was my first time out and about in a dress and boots with heels. It was a little intimidating and awkward at times, but the good times made up for that. I feel like there’s so much I do like a guy when I’m dressed up.

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Patrick! I’m so glad to hear you had a wonderful Halloween! Halloween is a great time to experiment a bit and see how you enjoy dresses – I’m happy to hear that overall it went well for you! 🙂

  4. LOVE this look on you! It’s so dramatic and elegant at once! That jacket is to die for! I feel like I’ve accidentally taken every other year off from Halloween, and it is what it is. Maybe next year! Sounds like you had a good weekend regardless! XO

    1. Aw, thank you, Lauren! Every other year is a good plan, in my opinion. 😉 And the weekend was still a nice time. 🙂

  5. That coat is so awesome! I love the style and the color!
It’s a shame they don’t really do Halloween in Sydney, since it’s my favorite holiday! Today I just dressed up in a wig and bat skirt, but over the weekend I did a Powerpuff Girls group costume! I was Blossom, Dave was Professor Utonim, and our two friends were Buttercup and Bubbles. So much fun!

    1. Thank you so much, Jen! I agree – Halloween is a blast! And oh my goodness, your costumes sound amazing! I wanna see photos! Haha. 🙂

  6. This yellow sleeveless trench is so fab! It makes you look like a ray of sunshine 🙂 I likethw black and orange scarf for a touch of Halloween too! I definitely want to go see Dr. Strange as well. I don’t know much about the character actually, but Benedict is one amazing actor. Ava and I are going out as Minnie and Mickey Mouse today!

    1. Oh gosh, thank you so much, Amanda! I honestly don’t know a ton about Dr. Strange either…but I love Marvel & Benedict…so, you can’t go wrong, right? And oh my goodness! Minnie & Mickey Mouse sounds adorable! Can’t wait to see photos! 🙂

  7. Oh my goodness, I LOVE that jacket! I want to try a longer jacket/duster coat but I’m always afraid I’ll look silly in them. I don’t have any Halloween plans sadly…

    1. Thank you so much, Lee! And I don’t think you would look silly at all! I personally think they look great on anyone…especially if you throw a pair of heels on with them.

  8. You look great in this trench! I won’t be dressing up, but I wore black and white this weekend. My daughter carved a pumpkin and will give out candy ( her first year not trick-or-treating). Otherwise, quite. I hope that Dr Strange is good, because I love Benedict! 🙂

    1. Aw, thank you, Laurie! Hope you and your daughter have a lovely time handing out candy (that was always my favorite part of Halloween). I’m hoping Dr. Strange is good as well – Benedict is always so amazing, I can’t imagine the movie would be bad. 🙂

  9. That sleeveless coat totally reminds me of the one I was wearing last week on the blog!
I love how it really adds color to your outfit!!
