Indianhead Ski Resort

It’s been a while since I posted a travel post! I’ll explain why that is soon, but first, let me explain where we are in these pictures.

The above pictures are of Indianhead Ski Resort in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We were invited by our friends to spend New Years at the resort with them. It was a wonderful time! I personally am a terrible downhill skier, so I opted for snowshoeing while everyone hit the slopes. My husband tagged along as well, because it was the first time either of us had ever gone snowshoeing.

Snowshoeing was a ton of fun. The resort has a snowshoeing trail with some beautiful views. I loved exploring the woods, even if it was only about 5 degrees out. Snowshoeing on a trail was a bit interesting, just because snowshoes aren’t made to be used on packed snow. Fortunately, there was enough area with powdery snow to the side of the trail for us to plod through.

But first let me take a selfie.

Later that night we went to a neighboring resort, Powderhorn, to watch their fireworks display. They really outdid themselves! We thought they were doing the “grand finale” every few minutes for a half hour, haha.

I actually rang in the New Year with my husband and friends sitting in an outdoor hot tub under some gorgeous snow laden pine trees. It was beautiful. We didn’t realize it was midnight until the neighbors shot off some fireworks. So, I don’t have a fancy outfit post for New Years…because technically I was just in my swimsuit, haha (but if you want to see the swimsuit, click here.)

It was truly a perfect way to ring in the New Year!

*I’ll be explaining why the travel portion of the blog has been on a hiatus in tomorrow’s post..it’s a bit of a story. That post will also be a little tribute to my husband and me in honor of our 2 year anniversary!
