Passion Lilie – Ethical Fashion

I’m excited to introduce you all to the clothing line “Passion Lilie.” Which isn’t just any clothing line. It is a small business based in New Orleans that is fair trade and eco-friendly. Passion Lilie dress

Yippee! I found a fit and flare dress that is just long enough for me to be able to wear it in the breezy weather here. I still wore a pair of running shorts under this dress, just in case, but the cut and length kept it from flying up in the wind. It’s weird, how I never would’ve thought about getting a dress based on its ability to not embarrass me in the wind…until I arrived in Sydney.

Not only is this dress my favorite style of dress, but it’s also incredibly comfortable. I maybe could’ve gone down one more size, but gosh, the looser fit just felt nice on a warm spring day wandering through the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The Passion Lilie Story

However, the best part of the dress is the story behind the company that makes it – Passion Lilie. See, the clothing line “Passion Lilie” isn’t just any clothing line. It is a small business based in New Orleans that is fair trade and eco-friendly. They feature “streamlined silhouettes with a flair for the vintage and retro.”

All of Passion Lilie’s dresses are designed in New Orleans and are then produced in India using ancient artisanal dyeing and weaving traditions. The women in India are paid fair wages and have decades of experience in their craft. (You can click here to read each of their stories.)

Look!! This dress has pockets too! I repeat “it has pockets!”

Passion Lilie is also dedicated to preserving the environment by using natural, plant and vegetable-based dyes. The fabrics are also “washed by hand in the local waterways and dried in the sun.” Oh, and any leftover scraps are used for accessories! Isn’t this clothing line amazing?! I really am in love with this dress, and can’t wait to recommend it to everyone who sees me wearing it this summer.

My Earrings…

Speaking of handmade goods from small companies, I want to briefly mention my earrings. I am absolutely in love with them! (Seriously, they’re going to be in the next 15 outfit posts..at least. Haha.) I found them at a Christmas market I wandered through on my way home a few days ago.

The earrings are all handmade and are incredibly detailed and very comfortable and light to wear. The lady who makes them also has an Etsy shop – “FrenchChicByMaiwenn.” I really encourage you guys to check it out too – she’s incredibly talented! Or if you’re Sydney-based she’s at The Rocks Market on Saturdays as well.

I don’t generally make it over to that part of town but if I do see them – I will let you know! 🙂 She also has an Etsy page, I think she’s taking a break for the next week or two, but if you want to check that after…you might get them much sooner than waiting on me. 🙂

    1. Oh no!! Thank goodness no one was around. I had it happen in a very busy part of Tokyo one time…and now, I am really paranoid about it happening again. Haha. And thank you so much, Richa! 🙂

  7. So many wonderful things about this post! First off, hooray on finding a fit and flare dress that works in the wind ha! Also, this color is utterly lovely on you! Have you worn a lot of purple before or am I just noticing now how great it is on your skin tone and coloring?? That’s also so awesome that the dress company is so ethical! That’s so lovely that’s becoming more of a trend/stuff people are talking about more 🙂 XO

    1. Thank you so much, Lauren! Haha, I love the color purple, but I think I only own one other dress that just has a bit of purple on it. I’ll have to start investing in more purple pieces! 😉 And isn’t Passion Lilie awesome? I love that it’s becoming a trend as well. 🙂
