bondi icebergs

You might not have heard of Icebergs until now, but chances are you’ve seen photos of their iconic oceanside swimming pool. And to say they have some of the best dining views in Sydney, would be an understatement! I decided to dedicate an entire post to Icebergs Dining Room & Bar because it was one of the questions I was asked most when I was home for the holidays. “Have you been to that restaurant in Sydney with the oceanside… Read more »

Sydney fireworks from Mrs Macquaries Point.

*If you like this post, it is now available on iTunes as self-guided walking tour! Click here to download it. With millions and millions of dollars going into Sydney’s spectacular NYE firework show each year, it’s an event that can’t be missed if you’re in the city. I’ve never seen anything as incredible as this fireworks display! But the biggest dilemma is – where should you watch it from? I’m going to share my thoughts on where I watched the… Read more »

Sydney sunset

*If you like this post, it is now available on iTunes as a self-guided walking tour! Click here to download it. Sydney is a city with some very unique activities and sights to take in. I mean, how many city’s activities include scaling a bridge to relaxing on a beach to seeing a show at the famous Opera House and even petting a koala? Needless to say, Sydney has a little bit of everything! Now, 3 days will mean you… Read more »

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

FINALLY! I went into Australian nature and actually saw some rather scary looking wildlife! Haha. (Pictures are below.) I wasn’t sure it was ever going to happen, but I finally saw some interesting creatures. And we’ve been in Australian nature (the bush!) pretty frequently. Hiking (a.k.a. bushwalking) has been our weekend activity of choice lately, as there are many gorgeous National Parks in and around Sydney. I’ll be sharing two that I really enjoyed in this post. One is rather… Read more »

Shein Maxi dress

Shop the look: The first day I wore this dress, my husband loved it. Not only did he think it looked cool, but he also couldn’t stop laughing because I had a woman sneakily trying to photograph this dress while we were walking to dinner. She was pretty sneaky, as I didn’t notice until my husband pointed it out. I should’ve turned around and just told her where it was from. Alas, introversion got the best of me, though. (I… Read more »

sleeping koalas

Hopefully, no one is tired of koala photos just yet, haha. I honestly think one of my favorite things about being in Australia is that I have the chance to get close to koalas whenever I like! And this post will be sharing photos from the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium & Wild Life Sydney Zoo…so, there’s going to be a couple more koala photos! When my husband and I first arrived in Sydney we bought a Sydney Attraction Pass that… Read more »

IXIAH

Yippee! Another week, another Links à la Mode feature! This week’s post selected to be featured by Independent Fashion Bloggers was my “Fashion Weekend Sydney” post. I’m excited they enjoyed getting a glimpse at Sydney’s fashion scene as much as I did. In other news, today was a bit busy (in a fun way)… I finished up booking our trip to Uluru a.k.a. Ayers Rock a.k.a the big rock in the middle of the desert in Australia. I’m pretty excited… Read more »

sculptures by the sea

Sculptures by the Sea is an incredible, annual event in Sydney, that is exactly what it sounds like. More than 100 sculptures are set up along the coast from Bondi to Bronte Beach and are free for the public to enjoy for three weeks in the spring. It’s pretty amazing to take in such art while relaxing at the beach! I’m also incredibly impressed by how quickly this is all set up. I had just walked the exact same path… Read more »

QVB BUILDING

I’ve always been told nothing in life is free. And that is still technically true for the “I’m Free” tours. However, it is a pretty neat concept, in my opinion. The way it works is there is no set price, you just show up at the time the tour starts, and it lasts for about 3 hours. At the end of the tour you decide how much it was worth and then pay your tour guide accordingly. Pretty neat, right?… Read more »

sydney skywalk

Let me start this post off by saying, I am deathly afraid of heights and was pretty much in panic mode in every photo you see of me in this post. Haha. Obviously, I survived…so, there was no need to freak out. But I really hadn’t realized what Sydney Tower’s “Skywalk” all entailed when I signed up to do it with my husband. Sydney Tower is Sydney’s tallest free-standing structure. It offers amazing views of Sydney (obviously) and is one… Read more »

Sydney opera house

The Sydney Opera House is one of the first images that comes to mind when I think of Sydney… or even Australia. It’s an iconic building that is recognized worldwide (and is even a World Heritage site, now). So, needless to say, this was one of the first things we wanted to see when we arrived in Sydney…and we did check it out, but just the outside views. This past weekend was the first time we actually went to a… Read more »

manly beach

Manly Beach is a beach in Sydney that is best known for its surfing. However, I have zero interest to try surfing, thanks to having less than stellar coordination. Haha. But the surrounding area has some wonderful walking/hiking trails that offer outstanding views of the ocean and city…and the northern beaches are a bit calmer. (Right up my alley!) Side note: Manly Beach actually got its name because the guy who discovered it hundreds of years ago, thought the indengous… Read more »

Fashion Weekend Sydney Outfit

Shop the look: My debate for what to wear for Fashion Weekend Sydney was not nearly as intense as my debate for what to wear for NYFW. This was a nice, laid back, fun, shopping event…that I would also get to be sitting for a good portion of...thanks to the runway shows & champagne lounge area. (Click here if you missed my last post on the event.) So, I could actually wear heels and not fret…and it was a good… Read more »

Sydney outfit

My days are completely messed up. I went all day thinking today was Monday…whoops! I then had a bit of panic attack, as I realized I had not yet posted this week’s Independent Fashion Bloggers Links à la Mode feature, and it’s already Tuesday night! But I’ll blame that mix up on yesterday day being Labor Day here in Australia…so, it was a nice long weekend here! It was also apparently Day Light Savings Time, which I was completely unaware… Read more »

grey trench coat

Shop the look: Right now, I have boots, trench coats and scarves on my mind. However, it’s spring here! So, I am really struggling at the moment, haha. It feels so strange to be going through the motions of spring again! But I was able to compromise with myself. I needed a new lightweight coat, as I hadn’t really packed much for coats or jackets, other than a jean jacket. In Wisconsin, it felt like I always went from short… Read more »

Clema W. lemon dress

…You make lemonade! I know that it’s a rather overused saying, but it is one I do love…as I really strive to be optimistic, even when things are looking a bit sour. Not that there are any particularly bad lemons in my life right now – things are going very well in Sydney! But it is good to be reminded sometimes to be positive. And what better way to remind oneself, than with the most adorable Clema W. lemon dress?… Read more »

Sydney outfit

Shop the look: Yippee! I made it! I’m finally in Sydney, Australia! It’s beautiful! As I’m sure you can tell from the photos. It seems surreal to be seeing the Sydney Opera House all the time, now. And I’m really enjoying the mild weather and the flat whites that every single coffee house carries! Unfortunately, we didn’t do too much exploring our first weekend here… I had a heck of cold + jet lag + we had a whole bunch… Read more »
