A Little Life Update
Today’s post I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on what exactly is going on over here at Have Clothes, Will Travel.
We left Argentina over a month ago, but there hasn’t been any big moving announcements or hints as to what’s been happening since we left. I’ve been getting a few questions about this and figured I’d let you lovely readers know what’s going on since that announcement.
If you’ve been following along for awhile, you’ll know that my husband and I are very quiet about these matters until absolutely everything is in place…thanks to some bad experiences in the past! And everything changes sooooo fast.
Here’s a rundown of what we thought was going to happen after we left Argentina.
*First up, we thought we might potentially move to Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur to be exact. Well, we’re not there.
*Next, up was Helsinki, Finland or Milan, Italy. But those weren’t a good fit either.
*There was serious consideration for Norway for a couple weeks. (Not there either, though! Haha.)
*Brief moment where we thought we were headed to Montana.
*Then, the most serious consideration of all, was moving to Moscow, Russia. This one we actually started to get the ball going, investigating immigration, looking into banking, etc. Let’s just say, that’s all very complicated! Haha. But we are not going to Russia for the time being…
This is why we keep quiet on these matters…as it’s such a roller coaster and changes SO fast.
A little recap on our weird lifestyle for new readers:
We move all over the world based on where my husband is working. So, it really comes down to where there’s a need for him.
My husband and I don’t own a home and have been living out of suitcases essentially. We have to be able to move at a moment’s notice!
We’ve lived all over the US and in Japan, Australia and Argentina so far.

So, what’s happening now?
Well, I am writing this post from a computer in Iowa. That’s where my husband is currently working. We’re trying to decide now if we want to continue moving as we do, setup shop in Iowa for awhile and try to get back into the expat life after this project. (We’re thinking that would be around Christmas of this year, unless something changes, haha.) Or…if we want to find a more permanent location and begin to lead a more normal life. (Likely Wisconsin, that’s where our families are.)
The ladder is honestly sounding the most appealing to me at the moment. I love traveling and the excitement it brings to our life. However, this nomadic lifestyle isn’t the easiest, and there are plenty of days I wish I just had a spot to myself (or a closet for that matter, haha). We’ve been living this way for over 5 years now! That’s really crazy to think.
But regardless of what we decide, we’ll be in the US now until likely Christmastime.
Now, if we do settle down, that certainly wouldn’t mean we’d stop traveling. We just wouldn’t be living in the spots we go to.
But no decisions have been made yet! I’ll be heading back by family in Wisconsin next week to mull over the choices, and I’ll keep you all in the loop once we’ve figured it out. I’ve just been getting so many questions regarding this, that I figured it would be better to clear it all up now and stop being so mysterious about it all.
So, this is where I’m at right now…in limbo! Wish me luck!
**Also, a heads up for regular readers! On top of all of this, my laptop stopped working this morning! So, Friday’s post will be dependent on if I can get it fixed in time. If there’s no post on Friday, just know that’s the reason, and all is well otherwise. I’ll have my laptop problems sorted out by Monday morning otherwise.

Iowa is great! I’ve been here 6 years now and have grown to love Des Moines. Best of luck to you and your husband 🙂
Thank you so much, Caroline! I really enjoyed my time in Iowa. 🙂
I always wondered how you travelled so much all the time, now I know! I don’t think I could do that as I love my normality and routine, but that’s seriously amazing you can! I’m sure you’ll figure it out soon and do what’s best for you both xx.

Thank you so much, Lorna!
Good luck!! I am sure whatever happens it will fall into place naturally. 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
