“Took 23andme test, couple years later, found my biological sperm donor father. We connect on facebook, he shows me his daughter’s page, I see she has a mutual friend with me, it’s one of my best friends. I text him, how do you know this girl I just found out she’s my half sister. He goes, call me right now. Turns out they’re cousins, and so are we. My friend’s dad married my sister’s aunt.”

Murder in Common

“My past company was located in the Philly suburbs. There was a client from DC we had dealt with for a couple years but never met. She decides to come visit our office because of a project. She mentioned she had never been in Pennsylvania before. My boss, the client and I go out to lunch. So while we’re chatting in the car she mentions she has a good friend, who she used to date, who lives in our area but didn’t know exactly where. Then she mentions a few details and that his mom had murdered his dad.

I turned to her (I wasn’t driving) and I said, his last name isn’t xxx is it? She’s like, yeah, it is. Turns out I grew up with him, he was about my age, his family lived right up the street from me. Well, until the murder took place. But we had lost touch after high school, which was before the event. I just thought it was so bizarre.”

Long Lost Half Brother

“My dad had a son with an ex-wife before meeting my mom, but it’s a dark part of his past that he despises talking about. So I have an older 40-something half brother I’ve never met, supposedly living somewhere in my county (which is a rather big area).

I’m a pharmacist in a small town in this county, and a few days ago I got a prescription from a woman in her 40s. Her surname was the same as mine, and since it is a very uncommon one, I kindly asked her at the counter if there was a chance we were related. We connected the dots, and I found out that she was my half brother’s wife”

“I’m from a small town in Idaho. Less than 5,000 people. The first time I ever traveled to Europe, we landed in London, and stayed in a bed and breakfast. Got in very late went straight to bed. In the morning we went downstairs for breakfast and had to share a table with another couple. They were from the same town!”

“I went to a used book store in Calgary with a friend. We were both teenagers. I spotted a yellow rectangular collection of Garfield cartoons and said, ‘Hey, I used to have that book.’ My friend grabbed the book, opened it up and started flipping through the black and white panels when something small and thin fell out of the book. I picked it up. It was a school photograph of me from elementary school.”

“A friend of mine wants me to help eBay his high end audio equipment from the early 80s. Last items were two rather large speakers, really nice cabinets, original boxes the size of small refrigerators. Was really nervous, because the high bidder on the last day was in South Korea, and we had NO idea how we would ship them there.

As we watched the bids come in toward the close of the auction, there was one in Australia, one in Japan. Bid comes in last couple seconds, USA buyer! Turns out, he lived in the same block as my friend, their back yards almost touched. We literally delivered the speakers through the back yard.”

“When my grandmother passed away on my father’s side, we were cleaning out her things, going through old documents, etc. We found the newspaper clipping of my dad’s baptism. My mom goes ‘thats where I was baptized!’ Turns out, my dad and mom were baptized at the SAME service when they were babies.”

“My Dad moved to Boston from Chicago in the early 70s when he graduated high school. He got a job at a local store where he met my Mother. After a few months of dating, his Mother drove out to visit him. He introduced her to my Mom and they went to dinner at her house. When the two Mothers met for the first time they both realized they were best friends growing up before my Grandmother on my Dad’s side moved to Chicago with her family when she was young.”

“An 11 year old girl ran away from home and the police/family were desperately searching for her across a few neighborhoods (including mine) in rural Pennsylvania; a call to action was sent out. The sun was coming down and I figured I’d drive around a bit looking on my way to run errands. I thought a bit about where she might be. I drove to that spot and arrived at the exact location and the exact time she was found/reunited with her family. The mom had just pulled up a moment before me; I sat and watched as they embraced and got in the mom’s car.”
