Pearls, Bows & Metallic Skirts
Look at me go! I am on a roll with these trends! Haha. Although, again, I’m a bit behind with this one. Metallic skirts were all the rage for the holidays, and while this is a trend that does appear to still be going strong…I do see why they were so popular around the holidays. I mean, sparkly and shimmery is perfect for that time of year! But it can still work for the rest of the year as well. Pairing it with a more casual blouse or sweater and a pair of flats would tone it down for more daily use… but I was heading out to a dinner in the city, and heels and pearls were just what I was going for!
(UPDATE: Sorry! This skirt is currently out of stock! I have linked to almost identical skirts below, in the “where to find it section.”) And this particular skirt is nice because 1.) It’s inexpensive. About $19! Need I say more? 2.) The length. I always love midi length skirts! 3.) It doesn’t wrinkle easily. This is super important for me because I HATE ironing pleats. Haha. But I haven’t had to worry about that with this skirt! 4.) It’s versatile. This will work with quite a few different colors and will be easy to dress up or down depending on the day.
This skirt is a wee bit scratchy, though. Not bad, just not silky smooth either. (Just an FYI.) The elastic waistband is a bit thinner than I’m used to as well. I think it’s a bit less flattering around the waist than wider waistbands tend to be. But, this is me just being really nit-picky. For the price, this skirt is a winner!
And now changing gears here, I’m really excited because I’ve finally gotten over the weird dislike I had for Instagram stories! (Instagram’s version of Snapchat, basically.) I had avoided Instagram stories initially because I’ve decided to keep Snapchat sacred as a personal account. Nothing that goes on my Snapchat is related to the blog…and I only have about 20 Snapchat friends, haha.
But I finally started posting to my Instagram story this weekend, and it’s been tons of fun! I really like the extra level of interaction I get with my Insta friends from it. My plans going forth will be to use it as a way to give little glimpses into life in Sydney, as well as any adventures I go on. Which will come in handy this week, because on Wednesday I’m heading to Cairns, which is where the Great Barrier Reef is! So, I’ll be sharing bits of my trip on my Instagram story if you’d like to follow along, just click here. 🙂
If I’m not already following you on Instagram, leave me your handle in the comments! I love finding new people to follow on Instagram. And what are your thoughts on the metallic skirt trend? Let me know in the comments.

Spot on about thinner waist bands ! Sometimes, they flip around and I often find them hard to manage. Whenever i can i try to make them thicker by some sewing at home but onbviously with that pleated skirt you cant !
The outfit looks stunning though! Very ladylike and classy!

Oh yes, they do that sometimes – so annoying. This one hasn’t started doing that, fortunately. But I do have another skirt that flips around alllll the time. And thank you so much! 🙂
You look stunning in this metallic skirt and these pearls are so classy. Love them! I am a huge fan of the classics. I understand what you are saying about wider waistbands and I agree they are flattering. I’m not on Insta Stories just yet.

Thank you, Dominica! Happy New Year to you as well! 🙂
Loved your skirt, dear Lindsey, and wow, the price is really good and yes yes yes, it doesn’t wrinkle 🙂 Your outfit is perfect for a night at a restaurant, I really liked it very much, and you do look stunning! The Great Barrier, yeeeeees, eager to read about your experience! Now Instagram… I still didn’t have the “courage” of creating an account there… probably I won’t or, mmmm… who knows… I know I used to have a channel on Youtube with 69 videos, since 2007. Way before this fever of Youtubers. But then I deleted because I wasn’t OK with open comments – Youtube is known for having the worst haters’ community among all social media channels 🙂 Anyway, maybe I will go there again one day 🙂 I hope you have a very nice week! Hugs!

Thank you so much, Denise! Oh yikes, I didn’t realize how harsh YouTube is. I don’t have too many videos out there – and fortunately, haven’t had any too nasty comments. But Instagram is actually really positive for me and many of the bloggers I follow. You will get the occasional troll every now and again, but the bad and creepy are such a small portion of all the other wonderful ladies I’ve met via Instagram. It’s a really fun community! Hope you decide to give it a go one day! I think you’ll enjoy it. 🙂 Hope you have a nice week too! Hugs!
Soooooooo love this!!!
