The Top 5 Makeup Tools You Should Have in Your Makeup Bag
Guest post by Hillary Kline
As a self-proclaimed makeup junkie, I have to say, I’ve got a ton of beauty products. You need something to store those products in, right? So, you guessed it, I have multiple makeup bags. All shapes, all sizes, all patterns and colors, but what really counts is what is in those bags. You might be wondering what are the top things that I should have in my makeup bag? It wasn’t easy, but I narrowed it down to what I consider the top five makeup tools you should have in your makeup bag.
The Top Five Makeup Tools You Should Have in Your Makeup Bag
1.) A great lash curler. Most eyelashes grow outward and not upward, so applying mascara without curling your lashes won’t provide the same impact. Keep a lash curler in your bag to give your lashes an extra boost throughout the day. Place the curler close to the base as you can without catching your eyelid, press and wiggle for a few seconds and then gently press a few more times in the middle of the lashes. You get an instant lash lift! I really love this one by Sephora.
2.) Tweezers. Invest in a sharp pair of quality tweezers that will last forever. I use tweezers for a variety of things – plucking stray hairs or even helping place eyelashes.
3.) Oil-free makeup eraser sticks by Almay. I love these guys, and they are under 10 bucks for 24 sticks. They are cotton tip swabs pre-filled with skin-conditioning mascara and makeup remover and helps remove smudges or smears around the eye area. Let’s face it, sometimes we make mistakes, so these sticks have been life savers!
4.) A good brush set. It can be a little overwhelming with all of the brush options available today. Get a good brush set. I really love this one by Real Techniques. It is great for travel, with three brushes and a case. It includes a foundation brush, a domed eyeshadow brush and a multi-task brush that’s great for blush and bronzer. Make sure you clean your brushes once a week, too, to avoid product and bacteria buildup (which can cause some gnarly breakouts!)
5.) Sun protection. Alright, I know it’s not a “tool?? but it is equally important. Lately, I have been loving UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection SPF 40 by Clarins. This product shields from the sun and defends against the elements with a patented anti-pollution complex. Plus, it pairs perfectly with any moisturizer. Sunscreen is important year-round, so slather up!
