Trying Trends – Pinafores, Bodysuits & Playsuits
Another round of “trying trends” here on Have Clothes, Will Travel! Today’s post is featuring a few more trends I had sworn I would never try – pinafores, bodysuits and playsuits. Bodysuits and playsuits are two trends I had no interest in due to how difficult they would make it for me to go to the bathroom. I also was never that intrigued by pinafores, as I didn’t think they would be too flattering on me. However, once again, my friends over at Femme Luxe enticed me with some of their new pieces, and I here I am trying them out!
Here are my thoughts on wearing pinafores, bodysuits and playsuits (plus a bonus psychedelic shirt that Femme Luxe had also sent me). Enjoy!
My Thoughts on Trying Bodysuits and Pinafores
Initial reaction about the bodysuit
I don’t mind it! I had always “hated” them in my mind because the concept seemed so darn uncomfortable. However, it’s not as bad as I had made it out in my mind. So far, I actually like this bodysuit from Femme Luxe. I can see myself pairing it more with skirts, though. I think wearing this with jeans would make me a little bonkers.
Initial reaction about the pinafore
This one I don’t love. I think perhaps on someone more petite than me, this could work. I just don’t feel this does much for my figure, though. It’s also WAY too short on me. I can’t bend over in it without everyone seeing my bum! (Good thing I’m wearing the bodysuit with it at least?)
Quality
Given that the COMBINED total of both of these pieces is less than $20 – the quality is fantastic. I mean it’s not the world’s greatest of course – but it’s comparable to clothing you would buy from H&M or Forever 21.
Verdict – Will I wear them again?
The bodysuit I’m definitely going to wear again – granted I don’t love having to snap and unsnap it every time I have to use the restroom, but it’s not really as big of a deal as I had convinced myself it would be. It’s also not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. It is nice that it stays “tucked in” as well. I’m looking forward to pairing it with some of my skirts.
The pinafore, however, is a great big NOPE for me. I just don’t like the way it looks on me, plus it’s constantly riding up and nearly exposing my bottom half. Then, the straps don’t stay in place unless I’m constantly readjusting it. It just doesn’t work for my body! I’ll be putting this one into my Poshmark closet. Sorry!

My Thoughts on Trying Playsuits
Initial reaction to the playsuit
Ok, again, this is far more comfortable than I thought it was going to be. This one also doesn’t ride up as much as some that I had tried on in the past. No grundies! Yay!
Quality
The quality of this playsuit is just kind of “meh.” It’s not outstanding, but it’s not the worst, given that it’s less than $15. It is a bit of a pain as it wrinkles easily…and the belt is slightly too big on me.
Verdict – Will I wear it again?
I’m on the fence about this one. I didn’t mind the way it felt and looked. It is, however, a NIGHTMARE to get out of when you really, really have to pee! I hate that. I don’t want to get undressed every time I need to use the restroom.
That being said, I’m going to pack it for my trip to Jamaica with Sandal Resorts next week. I think it will work well for that, as I’ll likely be heading back to my resort’s room to use the bathroom anyways. So, having to get undressed there won’t be as big of a deal as say a gas station bathroom.

Bonus Thoughts – Chain Print Shirt
Initial reaction to this shirt
It walks a fine line of being classy and a bit over-the-top, and the sleeves are a bit too long on me. (But I could also wear them rolled up.) I know it’s also likely meant to be worn tucked in – but it just felt like too much shirt to tuck into my pants. I prefered it untucked with these skinny pants.
Quality
Despite being just under $20, this shirt isn’t too bad of quality. And paired with the right accessories, I think it could be mistaken for a higher price tag.
Verdict – Will I wear it again?
I’ve been seeing these chain print shirts more and more. And while I’m not, personally, in love with the chain print…I don’t mind this shirt. I’m going to try it again maybe tucked into a skirt next time and see if I like that a little better. It’s not a bad shirt by any means, it’s just a print that I’m not going crazy over.

I’m glad I’m getting out of my comfort zone more with my style! And heck, now I know bodysuits aren’t evil! I’m still not sold on pinafores or playsuits, though….
And I’m curious, what are your thoughts on these trends? Are you a fan of any of them? Let me know in the comments!

Ooooh I definitely love the pinafore! ♥ It’s definitely one of my favorite pieces; I wonder why I have only one of them!

I’m sure you look super cute in a pinafore! You’ll have to feature one sometime!
I love all of these trends! Bodysuits are by far my favorite because they make it where the shirt doesn’t bunch up. I love the playsuit color especially and the pinafore is sooo fun.
Yes, I am really changing my tune about bodysuits as well.
The IDEA of a bodysuit is fantastic – oh man, with a skirt it’ll stay tucked in SO nicely! But yes, bodysuits, rompers, etc just don’t make sense when you gotta pee!!!
Yes! I have really come around to them! But I still can’t get behind rompers!
I love the colour of the pink playsuit on you, even if you’re on the fence with the quality! it’s fun to try something different !I have to say that the shirt is my favourite! 🙂
Hope that your week is going well 🙂
Thank you!
That pink romper is adorable Lindsey. I have one and there’s a secret to going to the bathroom in it….just pull it to the side like you would a bathing suit. Seriously…so much easier. And you can always use a different belt with it!!
XOXO

I’ll have to give that a try! I’m a bit worried this one is too long for that to work, though.
