I can’t get enough of retro-inspired swimwear this summer. I don’t know if I’ll ever wear a traditional bikini again after discovering these Esther Williams swimsuits…that’ll take you back in time!

This is the first one piece I’ve owned, probably since I was a little kid. It’s not that I’ve never wanted one, it’s just I could never find one that fit me, was comfortable, and was flattering. But then it was Esther Williams swimwear to the rescue! This one piece is nearly perfect. It is surprisingly comfortable even if it was a bit of a struggle to get it on (it got a bit stuck around my bottom half, haha), and I think it’s pretty flattering (I ate an entire pizza the night before! But the swimsuit hides my pizza baby pretty well!).

However, there are a couple things to be aware of with this suit. Your butt cheeks will be amply covered, but this is a mainly light-colored swimsuit that is form-fitting. So, your backside won’t leave too much to the imagination. Some reviews said that this suit is sheer in the butt area. I don’t think that was necessarily the case for me, it’s just lighter colored and doesn’t really hide the fact that I do indeed have a backside.

Also, it’s red and white. So, wash it with care. I have been hand-washing mine in cold water and have had no issues with it bleeding so far. I will probably continue to do this, especially because my polka dot Esther Williams bikini is not holding up as well as I would like, because I have been throwing it in the washing machine. I’ve had that suit for over a year and wear it a ton…I was expecting it to hold a bit better than it has, though. A little part of the stitching is coming undone on the bottoms, and it kind of ticks me off. (Lesson learned, handwash my suits from now on.)

And if you are particularly large-chested, this suit probably won’t provide enough support. It’s incredibly comfortable, like wearing a low-impact sports bra. However, I probably wouldn’t do jumping jacks in it.

Overall, though, I am really happy with this suit! My retro-inspired swimsuit phase won’t be ending any time soon, so hopefully, you guys are fans of them too!

Let me know, though, what are your thoughts on retro style swimsuits? Or do you prefer the traditional bikini?
