Something I am not used to dealing with on a regular basis is wind gusts that just about knock me on my rear end when I leave a building. I am here to tell you about 75 percent of my days in Sydney have been WINDY. Sure, we would get windy days in Wisconsin, don’t get me wrong, but they were in the minority (we had other weather issues of the freezing variety to deal with instead). So, needless to say, this is something that needs to be taken into consideration when dressing for the day…and my little, fit and flare dresses are not getting quite as much use at the moment…and knee length or below are where it’s at! (Or I have to wear shorts under those dresses, haha.)

I’ve always liked wearing longer skirts, though..so, the slight change in my wardrobe isn’t too upsetting for me! And this maxi skirt from Zaful has such a pretty print…and a nice silky texture. It makes me feel like a mermaid! Which, I had planned to take photos of it down by the ocean…but let’s just say hiding out by my apartment’s pool, protected by great big buildings, was difficult enough to get photos this past weekend! Ah, the ever so distressing problems of being a blogger, haha. The photo below is what basically all of my photos looked like!

Oh well, not every day can be perfect! And also a quick note about this skirt from Zaful, while I do love the print, fabric and cut of it…I really wish it had a slit somewhere on it. Walking long distances in it is slow going, as my walking was more like shuffling. And as I’m coming to find when living in a city without a car or subway system…I’m always doing a fair amount of walking. So, just something to be aware of.

The lovely Sylvia from Zaful also sent me this fun necklace as a surprise! I thought that was very kind. And this necklace brought back so many memories of my childhood, haha. It reminds me of those tattoo necklaces we used to wear…and which actually did make a bit of a comeback. Ah, the 90s.

Did anyone else have those tattoo necklaces growing up? And how do you dress for super duper windy days? Let me know in the comments!

Oh, I’ve had my fair share of windy days!! I love wearing my hair down normally but when it’s that windy I just have to throw my hair in a ponytail. I love that skirt though – it’s such a nice print!
Also I didn’t realize Sydney doesn’t have a subway system! Is it easy to get around?

Oh yes, I don’t have much for hair, but I can still get it in a ponytail…which has been completely necessary lately. Haha. And thank you so much, Lee!

As for getting around, not having a subway does stink. The buses do run frequently enough…and there is a train (which still involves enough walking to get to and from the stations) and the ferries are nice, though. It’s not the best public transport setup (especially after just getting done using Japan’s public transport for a few months, haha)..but I can still get around well enough without having a car at least! 🙂

I never knew Australia was so windy! I know that wind can be tricky when it comes to taking blog photos, but it looks like you are handling it well. 😉 I love maxi skirts and that one is so cute on you!

Oh yes, I hadn’t really thought of it either…but I guess it makes sense, with most of the major cities being on the ocean. (Gotta love those strong ocean winds!) Sorry to hear you have to deal with it too! And thank you so much, Lauren! 🙂

I remember wearing choker necklace in my school days. Everything makes a comeback.
Love this skirt, but just imagining you walking in it 😀
Is it windier than the windy city Chicago?

Oh, it certainly does! Haha walking may not be the correct word for how I was moving around, haha. And thank you so much!

I would say it is windier in Sydney than Chicago. Sydney gets some pretty strong ocean winds allll the time. And funny enough, I learned on a tour I took in this post and in a book I’m reading (Devil in the White City), that Chicago actually didn’t get its name as the windy city because it’s actually windy there. It had to do with their politicians being called “windbags” after they talked the city up to get the World’s Fair held there. But Chicago is still quite windy too! 🙂

I only just had this problem with the wind yesterday! So windy, when I got home and started editing the photos were awful! At least you look lovely. I really like the long skirt x

This skirt actually reminds me of outter space! The print and coloring of it do. Haha, i’ve had my fair share of Marilyn moments, but wow, the type of wind you’re talking about sounds intense! Im not sure what I would do if it was that windy all the time. Jeans or maxi/midi skirts would definitely be in heavy rotation. I used to have a similar type necklace in the 90s too! I can’t believe all of that is making a comeback haha.

Haha! I can totally see outer space now too! And oh yes, it has been intense! Fortunately, today there was a break…but of course, I hadn’t planned to take photos lol. Ooh yes, you have to love the 90s coming back! 🙂
